Soft and light concrete expression

This is a project just before I founded this office. This building is my office and my home, and is the most
straightforward expression of my way of thinking about architecture at that time.

The projected title was Sengoku House.
It was built in Tokyo in 2003. It was designed from March 2002 to September 2002, constructed from October 2002 to April 2003.
The land size was 66.01 square meters, quite small.

It is a recent trendy so-called "narrow house" plan in the city center. An office (home office) and a parking lot (1 car) were set up on the first floor. In order to obtain a sufficient frontage as my office, the floor plan of the first floor is the smallest, and the plan is an inverted trapezoidal cross section with the floor area increasing toward the upper floor.

By making the wall on the approach side of the house a curved wall, we tried to deviate from the heavy and hard expression imagined from RC construction and designed a soft and light expression. Each floor changed its height depending on the use of the room. Since the three sides are surrounded by two-story buildings, the public space, which is the center of the residence, is arranged on the third floor and the floor height is sufficient. This ensures sufficient lighting and ventilation that cannot be easily obtained from urban residences. The front road side that is open is all glass windows, and this plane is planned to function as an interface between the city and residents.

This building made it possible for my neighbors to know my architecture. Thanks to that, I was given the opportunity to design several buildings in the neighborhood. This project will have a very important position in my future work.
